EIAgen anti-Core IgM
analyte
HBcAb
brief description
Detection of Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) is generraly accepted as a useful marker of infection with Hepatitis B virus (HBV). In acute case of Hepatitis B infection, HBsAg levels often decline before the appearance of anti-HBs.During this interval between the decline of HBsAg and the rise in anti-HBs, total anti-HBcmay be the only reliable marker of HBV infection. However, total anti-HBc can also be demontrates during the convalescent period of infection and may persist for years after infection. Therefore, total anti-Hbc may not be useful in differentiating between ongoing or previous HBV infection. Detection of virus specific IgM antibodies has been useful in diagnosing most acute viral infection, including Hepatitis B virus. In the acute phase of HBV infection, high levels of IgM anti-HBc develop and may last for up 6 mounths or longer before declning. In some case of chronic hepatitis, low levels of IgM anti-HBC have been shown.
intended use
EIAgen Anti-Core IgM(Anti-HBc IgM) is solid-phase enzyme immunoassay (EIA) kit for the qualitative determination of specific IgM antibody to hepatitis B core antigen in human serum or plasma. It may be used as an aid in the diagnosis of patients with acute or recent (usually 6 months or less) Hepatitis B virus infection.
