Chlamydia Trachomatis

brief description

Chlamydia trachomatis is an RNA and DNA containing obligate, intracellular bacteria, belonging to the Chlamidaceae family. It is a parasite specifically of human mucous membranes and is almost exclusively transmitted through sexual contact.During its reproduction Chlamydia has two forms: as elementary bodies (resistant, transmitted form) and as reticular bodies (in the reproductive phase). Chlamydia is only sensitive to antibiotics in its reproductive phase.
