brief description

Candida is the cause of Candidiasis (Candida mycoses, Soor) of which at least 90% of cases are due to the species C. albicans. In some cases C. glabrata, C. crusei, C. pseudotropicalis and C. parapsilosis may cause disease. Because Candida is a mucosal saprophyte Candidiasis is almost always an endogenous infection. In the presence of other types of disease or predisposing factors Candida may lead to a mycosis.

Determination of antibodies to C. albicans, C. crusei, C. glabrata, C. pseudotropicalis and C. parapsilosis in human serum.
