EIAgen Epstein Barr EA IgG

analyte

Epstein Barr Virus

brief description

The Epstein Barr Early Antigens (EBV-EA) are viral proteins which are produced in the early stages of lythic infection. In the diagnosis of infectious mononucleosis (IM), indirect immunofluorescence has been adopted for a long time for the determination of serum antibodies against EBV-EA, in association with the detection of IgG and IgM against the capsid antigens (VCA), and IgG against a nuclear antigen (EBNA-1). Recently it has been shown that the immunoenzymatic determination of serum IgG and IgM against the two early proteins, p138 and p54, shows good correlation with the indirect mmunofluorescence method and can be utilised, not only as a complementary method in the determination of anti-VCA antibodies, but also as a substitute for these methods in the diagnosis of IM.

intended use

Immunoenzymatic method for the determination of IgG-class antibodies to Epstein Barr Virus Early in human serum.
